Philips Surveyors were engaged by DMAT in mid-2019 to manage their new Sports Hall & MUGA project.
The proposed Sports Hall would be designed to enable use by top level local Netball, Basketball and Cricket clubs, whilst the existing MUGA situated alongside would be reconstructed in a fully porous make up with TRRL75 slip resistant coating.
Our role involved fine tuning a preliminary Sports Hall design to ensure the Schools requirements were achieved followed by preparation and submission of the planning application and liaison with the interested planning authority.
Once planning had been granted we prepared and coordinated designs surrounding reconstruction of the porous MUGA, fencing and floodlighting, and also prepared Employers Requirements for the proposed Sports Hall which was to be a ‘Contractor Design’ portion of the contract. We then canvassed interest from suitable Contractors, managed the tender process and undertook negotiations on the Schools behalf before formalising appointment of the Schools preferred Contractor.
Once the Contractor had been appointed we managed the pre-construction phase and construction stage alongside administration of the building contract through to practical completion and hand over.
The project was hugely successful, and the School now enjoys the educational and revenue based benefits of having top levels Sports facilities.
