Philips Surveyors were engaged to prepare a CIF bid which sought funding to replace dilapidated exterior glazing and asbestos cladding around the Schools 1960s three storey STEM block alongside specialist removal (and replacement) of ACM ceilings and lighting internally.
Following success of the bid we undertook procurement, design, contract administration and CDM Principal Designer services during the works. At same time we were successful with a new second CIF bid which secured further funding to carry out a complete internal refurbishment which was then undertaken in conjunction with the external refurbishment as a contract variation.
The scope of internal refurbishment works included installation of new specialist lab/prep room furniture, ducted fume cupboards, ceilings, floor finishes and redecoration throughout alongside replacement of all services involving new gas, water, ‘vulcathene’ waste, small power, and lighting.
Specialist ‘breathing building’ units were installed to provide mechanical ventilation and heating in conjunction with a new gas proving system in each lab/prep room.
Over the course of both projects, we provided a complete package of consultancy services which involved procurement of temporary classroom accommodation, preparation of detailed designs, specialist design coordination procurement and cost management advice, and contract administration through to completion and handover.
