Philips Surveyors were engaged by St Oscars Romero Catholic High School to assist with a refurbishment/remodelling project involving conversion of a disused ICT Suite to form a Chapel and refurbishment of two adjacent Music Rooms to form separate Hygiene and Physiotherapy Rooms, complete with specialist equipment including height adjustable changing beds, wash basins, and full coverage hoist systems.
We prepared a Feasibility Study with budget costings which allowed the School to identify their preferred option and gain understanding of the costs involved. We then prepared a successful VASCA funding bid followed by detailed designs and tender drawings before inviting competitive tenders and advising the School accordingly.
Once a Principal Contractor had been appointed we managed and coordinated the pre-contract stages and then manged the works on site from commencement through to completion and handover.
A major aesthetic feature of the project was the structural ‘opening up’ of the existing ICT Suite ceiling to form a vaulted Chapel ceiling with mock rafters and mood lighting which involved review and coordination of structural engineer designs.
