Worthing High School (South Downs Education Trust)

Project: New STEM Block

Value: £2.4m

Duration: 12 months

Description: After an initial feasibility study, we obtained planning permission to demolish the Schools’ dated 1960s STEM block and replace it with a new state of the art STEM block featuring 6 labs, prep rooms, toilets, and storage. After successfully securing £2.4m in CIF (Condition Improvement Fund) funding to deliver the project we took on the role of Lead Designer and coordinated the design and tender stages, collaborating with various sub-consultants throughout before acting as Contract Administrator and CDM Principal Designer during the contract stage. The new STEM facility was equipped with specialist benching and furniture, fume cupboards, fully integrated MVHR, CO² monitoring, and a flamefast / gas proving system. There was also specialised wiring and full integration of fire alarms and other electrical systems, such as a Solar PV, interactive whiteboards, and audio-visual equipment. New external canopies and external resurfacing were also included.
